can any body please help
ford have discontinued making the steering rack for the ford fiesta rs turbo, but the shop says i can use the standard fiesta rack instead.
however apart from it not being a rs part can it be used. i know the rs has a wider track than the other fiesta's so will it make a difference as im in urgent need of a replacment

DONT USE A STANDARD RACK!!!!
been there done that, well a car garage did b4 they found out it needed its own rack!
2 years later and £120 from my pocket not insurance comapany i had my rack.
(back in 2001 i got it)
you got you watch these things mate, other comapny do make them like XL, or thay did back then, make sure the lock to lock is right, 2.75 for the FRST,if its not that, dont have it.
you can get away with using a standard rack but in my case with 7x15" alloys and lowered 60 mm on full lock the track rod end hit the rim of the wheel!
had it sorted then the passanger one hit the inner arch, lol
find a place that rebuilds them, explane the deal and make it clear you want your rack rebuilt and your rack back.
and check it before you leave for the lock to lock.
but what ever you do DONT give it a exchange before you get the new rack, the garage that fixed my car done that and was told ford could of got it rebilut within a week
oh yeah, forget uni-part, they list 1 rack for the mk3 ( non power steering) and its not the one you want, even if they list one for the FRST now, dont waste ya time with them.
sorry to bang on but i didnt have a good time back then with it all,
oh yeah, yes the FRST has got wider track, but the ball joints set that, the arms are the same size as any other, but FRST has 3 rivets, and the ball joint is set out 10mm and back 10mm
