I have a fiesta RS turbo, I have an upgraded in tank fuel pump from a escort cosworth this draws 4.75 amp

check wiring carefully too as I have had to in the past. you need to check current flow as well as volts to eliminate earthing faults! The connector to the pump can cause problems too!
