Default Fitting 4-2-1 manifold RS1800 problems

Right so bought a shiny new ashley 4-2-1 manifold and full exhaust system. Turns out the manifold fouls on the starter motor which means it doesnt sit right. SO i need a new, shorter starter motor, was just wondering which other ford models would have the starter motor i need, any help would be great as its pretty urgent. thanks alot, danny boy.

I know the 1600se zetec starter is shorter as thats what people put on the escort rst's to keep away from the turbo. not sure on the mounting holes though. Or if you bought it new get it sent back

ah right i'll look into that, i've heard the 1.6cvh xr2i starters will fit and are shorter so thats an option. and a brand new one i can get for 50 quid so i think thats the route im gunna take, thanks for the advice mate.

i didnt have this problem when i did mine a few years ago on my si,
do the pipes fit right as it goes under the sump?
the fiesta rst has a small starter as well

if it does id use exhaust wrap as wall on it

yep if i take the starter off, it all fits perfectly (under the sump too) but the my current starter it puts the downpipe at a much steeper angle towards the ground and towards the passenger side of the car.

dam i have a whole rs turbo engine but my mates got the starter from it on my old xr2, what a bummer. think i might just splash out for a new one. thanks for the help buddy.
