it will say in the hayes manual.
on the valencia which i know is similar to the endure however i dont know if is the same.
when cylinder 4 rocking adjust cylinder 1. 3 and 2. 1 and 4. 2 and 3.
and the exhaust clearance is 22thou, inlet clearance 10thou (cold)

as far as im aware the endure is a refined EFI valencia but im not 100% sure.

The most sure fire quickest way is after taking the plugs out to change or clean them during service just put car in 4th and move till 1 tappet of each cylinder in turn is pressed down then adjust the other one in that cylinder.
The endura is indeed a refined version of valencia, when adjusting the rockers pull up on the rocker with your fingers at the same time as inserting the feeler gauge, these suffer terribly with wear, this way you get a true gap.
If the rocker shaft is badly worn it can be taken out spun 180 degrees and reinstalled upside down so unworn side is on bottom instead of worn side of shaft.

exhaust is 0.5mm inlet is 0.2mm
rocker cover makes no odds, they're both still endura-e engines

Yes if you turn it looking down on it through 180 degrees, then rotate shaft looking from end through 180 it all lines up again but puts the unworn side as the load bearing side.
Obviously you have to dismantle the whole rocker gear but easy enough to do.
Make sure you keep on top of oil changes as these are not unknown to snap the rocker shafts, normally between 3/4 knocking cylinder 4 out, but it's always due to bad looking after.

Cheers for all your help tabetha, I will have a go at the tappets this weekend it sounds like only a couple of them are rattling. I had an earlier fiesta some years ago and they were adjusted by the rule of nine, why did they have to change it lol. I plan on doing oil & filter changes every 6000 miles think thats a good time.
