Default im new. question about my new xr2i

hi all. just joined the forum. bought myself a j plate 1.6 fiesta xr2i last week, drove all the way down to manchester to get it as it is a minter. 2 previous owners, 42000mls, totally standard, full ford service history, every receipt including bill of sale, every mot, tax disc etc etc. no rust at all, even the underside is mint, spent all its life in london with original owner and was garaged hence condition. anyway quick question, its a bit jerky on part throttle at low speeds. could this be the idle control valve causing this? any ideas. cheers.

I know this post is from a while ago, but what the hell. I am a complete numb nuts when it comes to under the bonnet, and have the same problem as the guy above. I have seen your recommendations but am not sure exactly how to check the plugs etc. Sorry for being a nugget, but thats just me. Any advice on what I am looking for

To check the spark plugs you would have to pull the HT leads off of the spark plugs and remnove them once removed check the side of the plugs for cracks and black burn marks also check the end of the plugs for blackening of the ends. there isnt much you can do to check the leads but the obvious things such as melting and snapping. but i will suggest checking the coil pack as well as i had this problem with my xr2i when i first bought it.
