I have been surfing the web to check for information on the RS1800 fiesta, There is so much different reports of how many were sold, let alone how many are left on the road, to the extent of driving me potty!

Does any one know of where to get accurate records of how many were sold and of how many are left on the road?

 

I always thought 500 were made, sure i came across a list of runners somewhere, cant remember where though!

I reckon there were loads more than 500 of these made. They were manufactured from 1992 to 1995 - if Ford only sold 150ish a year, i.e. 12ish a month they would have been immediately axed as a complete flop. If you think about it Ford sold the complete stock of RS500s in a matter of months.

If you have a quick look on the web you'll find loads of them for sale - which also gives the impression that they are not as rare as people say.

An almost identical car was sold on the continent, but it was called an XR2i 130, and not an RS1800

The DVLA may be able to give you an idea of how many were registered if you pay for a query, but you'd have to ask about Fiesta "RS1800", "RS 1800" and "RS" and add them all together. I believe there is also some way to get Microcat to report on model numbers - but I don't know exactly how to do it...

 

i saw one crash into the back of a citroen xzara once if that is any help. lol

 

i've heard that there were exactly 500 new rs1800's sold in the uk, and according to the dvla there are approximately 140 rs1800's still taxed/SORN in the uk.

 

Mine will be one of them thats sorn'd never to see the road again, well at least a public road

not really a fiesta man but allways wondered what the main differences are between the rs1800i and the 1.8 xr2i?

According to that DVLA excel doc that was posted up the other day there were 91 liscenced in 2010, I know another that was broken last month. I also can't se evidence of more than 500 within the last 10 years.....

my mates just bought a mallard green one apparently quite a rare colour on a K plate to

 

Mines still alive until the next track day then i am sure i will break something again

 

The only difference is the RS1800 obviously has the RS Turbo bodywork and as far as the engine goes it has a bigger throttle body, slightly lager profile cams and a remapped ECU giving it 130 BHP rather than 105 in the XR2i

 

Just bought my first RS this weekend , a Mallard Green RS1800, it needs a little TLC but nothing major 2 restore it 2 its original condition so as its SORN'd its gonna stay sleeping in my garage while i do the work, when i figure out how 2 upload the picture of it i will

 

When i found my RS on ebay there was what can only be described as the publication by Ford that the guy had found for the RS1800's and in that it said that there was 500 made in Mallard Green so theres gotta be a lot more out there somewhere
