Default MK II fiesta

Hi I don't know much about fiestas, so maybe you can help.
Were MKII fiestas fitted with CVH engines? I wonder is it lighter then MKIII/IV escort? and would the RST engine fit without any modifications?

I know the MK2 XR2 was fitted with a CVH. It's much lighter than an escort and the engine will fit in with a few modifications.

The engine itself should go straight in but you will have to do mods for intercooler, etc.

rst engine will go in but you need to cut a piece out the front x-member to clear the downpipe, wiring loom needs the esrt engine loom splicing into it, you need a swirl pot for the fuel tank.

It's not that I like it ... I'm hunting for lighter body to compete in drag races.
My escort after all I did to it weighs somewhere in the region of 800 kilos.
What is the weight of MK2 fiesta? Maybe MK3 has the same weight too?

When you just want to do Qartermile runs then the MK2 might be the better choice.

Thanks!

I wonder now what driveshafts people use as they swap those engines? RST ones (do they fit), or standard fiesta ones?
Found one XR2 down here for reasonable price, so can't sleep now

XR2 and diesel driveshafts were thicker than the standard ones on the MK2. Buy that XR2, it's also got the engine lowering and the bigger brakes.

By the way, would fiesta take my RST front suspension with all the driveshafts and brakes as I have bigger ones fitted to my RST?

No. You can just fit the springs to the Fiesta and there's a way to make the RST brakes fit.

I hope you'll find another one. They're rare these days unless you live in the UK and want one with the steering wheel on the wrong side

There is one dead MKII with non XR2 with some small engine... does it have any major difference? You mentioned brakes and suspension...what is different in suspension?

found this site...
http://www.retrofiesta.co.uk/
there is in information section turbo power guide... Please someone tell me what is true and what is not about fiiting the ERST engine into MK2... I think it's more about MK1, so not sure what do I have to look at. For example do I have to make any cutting to the wing for the ERTS gerbox? are'nt MK2 XR2 gearbox cases the same as escort ones? then why there is a need to cut anything?
