Default How Hard Would It Be...........

To put a Mondeo 2 litre lump into an XR2i which has had a CVH in it all of it's life?

What would I need to swap over, what would I need to buy?

Would I need a Cat for the MOT?

I know this sort of thing has been done before but from what I can gather it has been done with the 1800 zetec models?

Any help much appreciated

You will need the engine loom and ECU for the 2.0 as well as the correct engine mounts. Not sure but you may find the radiator is different between the CVH and Zetec cars

You won't need a CAT for the MOT.

That's great. I've basically got a complete Mondeo to get the engine and parts off anyway.

Would the engine mounts line up with the mounting points?

You will need to use a 1.8 ZETEC waterpump too.

Will the 2.0 waterpump not fit then?

Ok, change of plan. The engine I've got isn't that great after all. Plus can't be arsed

Ok, another question, what would I need to turbo it?

Other than:
Turbo + Manifold
ECU

All the elctrics although your loom can be modded to work with a couple of pin swaps iirc.

Fuel pump, tank injectors, head and cam are all the same as the FRST items. You will need to change the cam pulley as the FRST item is slightly more retarded.

You'll need the bottom end, rad, fan, intercooler, exhaust, turbo etc. While you've got it in bits you might as well T3 it as the T2 is a big bucket of arse and not capable of anything to write home about.
