7 YEARS I would have lost interest after........................... 1 and a half years AT LEAST YOU'VE spread the costs of building it over them years so you dont realise how much the thing owes you .
Ive personally got my heart set on going full zetec 16v turbo route @ around 320ish bhp.....im a bit nevous of investing my money in it though,as ive never been out in one
Dont get me wrong,i have nothing against cvh's,its just i feel that the smoother power curve of zetecs would be more suited to a little car.
When i personally went out in 5.03 SEC 1600 's car i SHIT myself. Ive been out in 280bhp mr2turbos',350bhp evos and 350bhp cossies...but i can honestly say that is the only car that has made me hold on,shit myself and get out of it with a much higher heart rate than when i got in.
It was an animal at 15psi!!!!!!! like he said it was flat as fu*k till 4K then you had to wait for the explosion, point it in a straight line and prey!!!lol
I personally feel it would be far too much to try and control in a mk1 fez.
Thats why my theroy is to go zetec and if 320bhp is too much,i will simply wind it down till its manageable(i.e. staged boost/lower boost) at least i know i will be making a reliable engine EVEN MORE reliable

i would agree son zetec would be much much smoother and driveable and yer the zetec is prob a bit more relieable than a cvh. althou i didnt not ever have any major faults with cvh just the old head that i should have been replaced on rebuild really

exactly.i could conquer the bits on cvh that play up......if me and you teamed up and made a list i t would be a big one but it could be done.....its just the actual drive would probably be a bit to harsh for a car thats been on planet earth since 1976 lol and if yours physically ripped the BOLT AND WASHER THROUGH the gearbox cradle You can imagine what it'd do to my mk1 weather its fully seam welded or not

To be honset im i havent got a clue which way to go 1600 or zetec

EITHER WAY ITS GONNA BE AN ANIMAL

yep, think ive decided son....................staying 1600. A big boost 1600 will be scary as hell....easier to fit in the little engine bay so no chopping....
Will want the shell as strong as possible.Still going to have it fully seam welded.
I will end up getting it live mapped with mr bayjoo i think........MAYBE 2 BAR

1600 cvh will do 350bhp at 2bar if built with the rite bits, wouldnt like to drive a mk1 festa with my engine in it tho would be even more scary than mine

lol.....i too feel it will be a very interesting drive If i build the engine so that it would take a good 280bhp,and it is undriveable, then i will keep turning the power down bit by bit till it is just about drivable. This way i know it will stay reasonably reliable Im already planning on widening the golf arches a little more so that i can get 8.5" wide rims on the front to give me a little extra tyre on the tarmac.....
its also booked in at my uncles garage to allow him to fully seamwelded the shell
sohuld then be as stiff as a 80yr old on viagra

yor runnig more power than i will be though mate.

im even deciding to mod the arches wide enough to run 9" wide rims on the front to get loads of tyre to the tarmac. will have tca's adjusted to allow max grip, equal length driveshaft conversion, and quaife diff!!!!
sholudnt be too much of a handful........................................... ..

I HOPE!!!!!lol

will be a very good drive i recon lol

Here are some of mine that i picked up down in Southampton.

Currently the car is off the road awaiting an MOT and will go under the surgens grinder over the winter for an engine transplant

fiestamk1turbo

Was great to speak to you at Nat Day and really good of you to give up the best part of an hour to run through the conversion with me has sort of sealed the fiestas fate now though

These are pics that the previous owner had taken as i've not really taken any myself
