In last months Fast Ford there was an XR3 with bike carbs fitted, looked impressive

Not seen it done on an RSi though, guess because its not the done thing to do to an RSi, best left to XRs

Yeh im going to get that conversion, based on the sierra xr4i rears isnt it?

Tis only really the diehards and the clueless gits that'll give you grief give it a go if you think its what you want, the 16i engine still has plenty of scope for tuning anyways, take it to a good tuner to see what can be done

S1s are okay but try finding a good one now for less than 3k, better off sticking with the 16i they handle well and theyre alot better looking anyway

Nice hoses, ive got a set on mine but theyre in blue had to make a few adjustments to them as im going to run a slightly different setup

Seen Oddkids XR3 running cossie rims, they look okay but i reckon theyre a bit too modern The best ones for an RSi are either the originals or even better a set of 3 door cossie rims

Nice gauges i had an oil pressure guage mounted in the centre console next to the tape deck, looked smart but the damn thing started to leak at the back of the block so i ditched it and put the pressure switch back in, got my boost guage in its place now

You could probably up the power more as well if you junked the ecu and ran a custom one or a dizzy because at the mo you're running the standard ignition map which you cant adjust.

Really lovely project tho and the car looks ace. Please no bonnet lifters tho!

ps. If you use a higher lift cam now and a decent 4-2-1 you should see some really decent power gains

B-TEC Motorsport ( 01993 830214 )

There was a guy on here once who had an RS1600i with a mappable Emerald ECU and astra GTE injectors, had it done at B-TEC, very nice it was too

bin havin a think (as you do when your sat on your arse on a sunday) and i was wondering wot the benefits of a mappable ecu would be when the ecu has nothing to do with the fuelling, or am i being thick

IMO your better off upgradeing the engine first before looking towards mappable ECUs, its alot of money for very little gain on a standard engine (is yours standard spec?) and the standard igniton stuff can cope pretty well with reasonable modification, its when you have really wild mods that you'll find problems

Get a stage 3 spec head on there with a good cam (something like a Kent cvh27) and a Janspeed system with the tubular manifold, maybe even some nitrous then look towards adjustable ignition

does help make the most of what you've got though... and the car's not off the road next mod you make waiting for a setup. just a thought...

oh, btw, I'm lookin at bike bodies on my zetec next yr, is it rude to ask what sort of price range to expect?
