been speaking to a bloke i know bout the way to go for a bit more power and he said id be better off leaving the head and cam well alone as the standard stuff is pretty good anyway and seeing as the engine in it when i bought it was scrap im inclined to believe him ,so without an engine swap or some serious wallet surgery my options are quite limited, i like the sound of nitrous though, watch this space

get luminition 3d ignition,
skim the head and raise the compression, standard cam is better than a kent,
have the head flowed and get a compition manifold (and match the ports to your flowed head,
apr con rod bolts and raise the rev limit to 7200 rpm,
use optimax fuel with lots of advance and go for 170 bhp.

or just fit a 2.0 zetech with your bike carbs and youl get that power out of the box.

a sfor the wheels, bbs make a 16" split rim version of the 3door rims (made for the rs 500) the 7 or 8" wide (was optional) paint the centres black and have the lip polished.

then................................
sell the car to me lol.
love the car mate

Ł700 quid is a bargain for the gains you get, i might've gone down that route with a bored out 1750 block if i hadnt gone for turbo power

Wow that rocker cover was well rough but its come up a treat

How did you paint the lettering a different colour?

By the way that tatty black vent hose youve got running from your rocker cover, bin it and get the water pump to heater hose for a mk2 RS2000, its almost identical to the vent hose all you need to do is trim one end

see pic

Looking at your pics on page one you'll have no problems

Give roose a call and see if they do the hose, think they do, i got mine from Burtons, all you need to do is trim one end because it ends in an 'S' shape

Ive got a painted rocker cover somewhere, painted Ford blue with polished lettering, will put it on when i find it

That looks fantastic! Infact it's got me all enthusiastic about finishing my long stalled Escort project.

Would you mind if I used some of thos pics of the carbs for my website to show what can be done with a little imagination?

All recognition will go to you of course.

Cheers,

Smiler.

Bloody hell, Just noticed that myself. I added the same pic to the bodykit section and wiped out the number plate whilst I was at it. Just realised it was the same car!

I shall endevour to put the carb pictures on there as soon as I can. There is however a huge backlog (of about 2 years work) to get through aswell, and that doesn't even include the Cortina or campervan sections!

Anyway, keep it up and keep us posted. I would love to see this car sometime as I am thinking of going the motorbike throttlebodie route with the 'tina.

Cheers,

Smiler.

Yeah, should work. Do a photoshop job first.

I was thinking of getting Team Dynamics Diablos with the black centres and polished rims for my Escort at one time. Though the imitation split rim is a bit naff on them.

Sounds like he doesn't like the car. Inless he's just inexperienced and a being over zelous. So long as the indicator gives an orange light when active it should pass.

Sounds like the MOT bloke's an idiot, unless the brake pipes were leaking or causing a serious braking defficiencey how could he fail em

I rarely have a problem when it comes to MOTs, i used to work in the garage i take my cars to although i may be pushing it a bit too far when i take the RS down next week

Well i wouldve thought they would have to physicly check them for signs of corrosion i.e. splits, leaks, etc. Ill have a look at the MOT manual when i take the RS down

not posted anything for a while because of my mot hell !!!, basically got ripped off by a garage that ive used for the last 12 years and ended up alot of money down and with a car with no brakes, still in the process of getting it sorted to my satisfaction, but anyway enough of the shit news the cars currently in the garage getting a couple of odds and sods seen too and when i get it back in a fortnight it should have a nice set of 16'' borbets on it with the spokes in bmw black and polished rims, watch this space for pics
