Rs1600i fuel problems

could anybody help me >? my rs stinks of fuel when i give it a bit of welly and when i ease off it backfires it also does it when i change gear ! HELP PLEASE

Fuel relay is a common problem dude......available as a new part from vw, same as a mk1 golf gti relay with the fuse on top.......

Yeh does sound like the fuel relay is giving up
