Default RS2000 Mk5 Throttle Cable Help!

Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction,

I've been restoring an old Mk5 RS2000 over the last year or so, and I've hit a dead end! I need to replace the throttle cable as its holding on by a literally thread at the moment so absolutely needs to be replaced.

Thing is I cannot find a replacement anywhere!?! Does anyone know anywhere that I can potential get one or even is there is a newer replacement that I can swap in?

TIA!

Jack,

Should be Finis 6852070 for the RHD RS2k. Did you ask your local Ford dealer?

Sorry mate, complete newbie, is 6852070 the part number? And yeah I phoned my local dealer, plus a few others and all the parts departments have said is that they can't source them, pretty much a dead end to be honest

yes, that's the Ford part number. Looks like this cable was exclusive RS2k only, BUT: the throttle linkage type was very often the same within one generation of a car and the main difference was the cable length. As the RS2k has the throttle housing on the side the cables where probably shorter than for the Zetec engines where the throttle cables run across the rocker cover. Might be worth trying an CVH EFI or Zetec one for your RS2k.

You're welcome.

The later models ('95 on, MK5b/6 MK6/7) had the same cable, so probably any cable 1990 and later might fit.

Fiesta XR2i and Fiesta Zetec-E ones (16V/RS1800) seem to be different.

I'm sorry to say I had a different picture in my mind. But the TB on the RS2k is in a totally different position than it was on the old MFI XR3i...
The throttle cable obviously runs the same way like it does on the Zetec engines. And as the TB sits on the side of the engine the cable probably is longer than the Zetec ones. These might fit as a quick repair solution but it will be much closer to the rocker cover or rubbing somewhere.

The only one that's still available as an aftermarket part is the LHD Zetec 16V cable (Ford 6802721, overall length 1065 mm)

Another option might be a custom made throttle cable like it is used for motorsport purpose. Connections for the RS2k on the acc.pedal and the TB are quite standard I'd say so this should work.
