Im breaking a gti that has rear discs. Will it go straight on my rs? Any mods needed different cable etc?


Also how do I find out what it came off as regards to getting discs and pads.

somebody must have fitted the rear discs to the gti as they never came with them, theres 2 options on rear discs either its the rs2000 rear beam thats been fitted or the st170 version, you can normally tell by a quick look at the discs themselves as 170 ones are shallow where as the rs ones are deeper as they have shoes inside the disc for the handbrake and pads outside for the actual braking which is a stupid design tbh and you will need the handbrake cable for sure

The lad ive had the gti off said that it was off a mk5 cab 130ps. Surly if it went on the gti it should go straight on the rs

 

it would have been a si cabby then and all you will need is the matching handbrake cable and your away as it will fit

 

It has new cables on it so I left them attached to the beam

 

What colour is the Cab? A mate of mine had a Cabby he converted to an RS2000 spec throughout. However, when it was sold the engine was reverted back to a Zetec.
