I have an escort mk6 1.8 gti and it is missing and popping at 3500rpm?? i have changed coil pack,ht leads and serviced and still the same?
When i start it from cold it idle hunt which i believe is the idle control valve. when u try drive it, the car pops/misses and will not go? It not as bad when car warm as goes up to 3500 rpm fine then after that it begins pulling back and feels as if it is missing ?
Any Ideas as what it could be ???

quite a few things to check,
if you have just serviced it I take it plugs, HTs ,coil were all done, other points to look at are the MAF,ISCV,crankcase breather, air intake pipes on rear of inlet manifold, then if all those check out you need to delve deeper into such things as bad injector or seal or Tps/throttle body and even ecu

Mine did the same thing it was because I had left the throttle position sensor unplugged so probably something to do with that

Blocked cat/exhaust?

Undo the cat off the manifold and see if it runs better.
