Escort MK6 Service Parts
Morning. My Escort hasn't been serviced for a while so thought its about time that it had a full service & I was just wondering if there any recomendations as to what make of parts to use. Do I go for bog standard basic or genuine Ford or are there more expensive parts which help with performance like the air filter? Same with the fluids as well. Also, sorry to sound thick but what actually needs changing on a full service, I'm thinking the following? :
Air Filter
Oil Filter & Oil Change
Fuel Filter
Pollen Filter
Engine Coolant
Spark Plugs
Brake Fluid
Power Steering Fluid
Distributor Cap
Obviously the ckecking of brakes, belts tyres etc, if there's anything I've missed let me know, cheers again. PS Can all the above be done with a basic tool kit?

no need to go for genuine parts when servicing as long as they are of a good quality, you can always fit a long life better breathing panel filter like a k&n, you wont need a dizzy cap or a pollen filter as the escort has neither but you can check or top up tyhe A/C gas if you have A/C, fluid change such as gearbox, power steering & brakes is really a job for a pro but topping up is basic DIY as is all the rest of car servicing, all will make the car run smoother but dont expect much in the way of power gains as it wont happen
