why are you asuming its over fueling?
RS's will dump fuel like a bitch on start up any way bud so if it isnt fireing you will have the smell of fuel
checked CPS sensor?
have you checked spark or even power to the coil packs?
unplug each loom to the coils and vault test them for power, if they have power
check the coils are ok, remove 1 & 3 plugs put long ingnition leed on the plugs one at a time and check for spark if they have spark 2 & 4 will be ok also as coil works to plugs and will never faill just one
so you now have spark? or not if not you've sorced issue
now check fueling, injecters maybe fooked, leaking
remove fuel rail, to torques bolts iirc, place rag over rail and a towl over battery turn over engine, if all four injecters are fueling correcty you'll guiesstimate there worth by seing them throw fuel
if leaking you'll have O-rings on injecters that are fooked, seat rings for rail also check, to place them back in, heat in hot water to reshape then place back in inlet manifold whilst cooling and theyll resit in manifold
you now have fuel and spark but no firing? CPS sensor bud or also check TPS bud, but recomend you check all sensors first save you hard graft.

i know its over fueling because it dumps so much fuel into the bores it stops the engine from turning over : (
ive checked cps, tps, map, all coil packs, plugs, leads, injectors, fuel pressure regulator
the only way you can get a sign of life is to hold the throttle fully open (like its flooded) - it will fire but die straight away

hi mate.
have you taken the plugs out after cranking over to see if soaked.
if not take plugs out and dry only 1 and 3 [then unplug the injectors] then crank over engine [only 2/3 times]
to get excess fuel out .
put plugs in. crank engine over and get mate to connect the injector that will stop it flooding until no.1 fires up
it some times works.
or if all else fails a dam good bump start.
my golf done the same thing one day not start done what i said and work ever since sold it two weeks later tho
