Default Engine Bay Cleaning?

The engine bay of my mk2 Focus is looking a bit grubby (ok, very grubby lol). Was thinking of having a go at this myself with APC, brushes and hose (mist/shower setting). Was planning on covering the alternator with a plastic bag and an elastic bands. Are there any other pointers people could give me please? Cheers.

I did mine recently, used gunk engine degreaser then a careful rinse with the hose. I didn't bother covering the alternator or anything else sensitive, just was careful not to point the hose at it.

303 aerospace is very expensive, autoglym vinyl and rubber care gives just as good a result IMO.

AG leaves the plastics looking shiney and attracts dust.303 leaves it looking like factory with no shine and lasts longer. AG is a good alternative but 303 is the best imo
