Default Removing Racing Stripes - vinyl -

Goodday folks,

Now my Escort XR3i rebuild is coming to an end, I'm thinking about turning my attention to my daily, a '01 Fiesta Zetec-s.

Allready gathering information and making a shopping list for detailing items, waxes, proper machine etc, but there's one thing I like to ask here on PF.

As you can see in the picture, my Fezz has got some Le Mans stripes..

They are getting harder to clean, even after hard buffing I can still see water marks and on one of the stripes on the hood i can clearly see some scratches (deffo made by the local neighberhood cat )

I'm thinking of removing them, but i know for sure that these stripes have been fitted roughly five years ago when it switched to the 2nd owner.

I'm scared there will be some evidence or residu embedded in the clear coat of the paint, will I be able to buff it out or shall it stay visible?

Anyone that can give me some advice? anything would be much appreciated!!

Big decision, if something visible, then i might be better off putting new vinyl on...

Thanks in advance , looking forward to hear from you

Get a hairdryer heat the stripes, peel off then use some tar and glue remover for the residue, then you will need to polish the bonnet with a da or rotary or you will see ghosting from the stripes,or if your fitting the identical stripes (same size) you could probably fit them straight on.

Thanks for your reply! By ghosting you mean the color-difference am I right? Thats what i am afraid of, the bonnet and roof will obviously be most affected. with some good cutting polish i might be able to buff out the most.. but it might stay visible.

Only other options are new stripes in the same size, or re-spraying the bonnet, roof and tailgate
