Default Best way to remove tar?

Gave the Focus a bit of a bufty last night and noticed theres soo much tar around the bottom half of the car, it does come off with a bit of hard scrubbing but im not sure if this is scratching the paint or not, and obviously dont want it too!

Basically i just want to know whats the best way of removing this as i used some turtle wax bug and tar remover stuff last night and that didnt work too well, also had some auto gleam tar remover laying about which also wasnt amazing.

I got rid of most of it last night then quickly went round with claybar and then some meguires wax and i think it looks good (nothing compared to most of them on here but clean compared to what its normally like) but just for future reference.

Autosmart Tardis is amongst one of the best products out there... Good value too.

Yeah, i started off using the claybar, but the tar just seems to smudge all over it and then it was soon unusable after a couple of panels.....

AG's not bad but still takes a lot of scrubbing and some bits are still left behind.

Tardis you just dilute spray on leave for 5-10 minutes and wash off, any stubborn areas might need a bit of a fettle. But is noticeabley better than AG IMO.

I presume anything that removes tar also removes wax, so the car will need re-treating afterwards?

Dont try and rub it off untill you have treated it with something first,if you have been rubbing the tar with no chemicals you will leave tiny scratches in your clear coat,i see it every week on loads of cars
Tardis is very good but can still take a couple of applications before it safe to wipe the tar off

I used to use petrol on a rag but find that WD40 does the trick just as well and I don't get high inhaling the fumes!

Panel wipe cuts through tar spots like butter, just like it removes greasy marks out of your carpet indoors, after transferring grime and crap off the soles of your feet after working on your motor from where it came from in the first place

Panel wipe is not good for dogs BTW

Had a rag in my hand after just cleaning a panel, it was almost dry and the dog did the limbo under a MK VII Jag which got grease on her back. One swift wipe and you'd think I'd put acid on her back wasn't right for hours

Great on tar though
