Valeting HELP !!
hi guys
not been on for a while, some of u may remember i inherited a mint low-miles 1-owner 3-door cossie off my uncle which i had a bump in.i still havent found a rear quarter panel for it but rest of cars still mint so i decided to detail it
now ive washed it and dried it and t-cutted the whole car,but i had some small tar spots or something on the front wings from when i took it out a few months ago.i used oven cleaner to get them off and its worked but the paintworks now scratched to hell.what can i use? i thought about buying a machine polisher and using it to t-cut it

First up I would invest in proper cleaning products designed for the job, tar spot remover will break down tar so it can be wiped off with ease rather than being rubbed/scratched off.
Also, remember that when you polishing or using t-cut, your dragging round grit and dirt and rubbing it into the paint which will cause more damage.
Maybe look at claybaring the car, it's quick and easy and cheap and will help make sure the paint is free from dirt and grit before you being to polish the car.
Have a read over some of the guides on here for the processes of washing and polishing your car the best way.
Maybe worth looking at spending the money and investing on having a professional do some paint correction (about Ł300) so that you have a good base to work from and then get some nice products that will keep the paint in top condition.

Oven Cleaner? Fuck sake i bet the paintwork was in some state. Try to get some Autosmart Tardis, spray on leave for a few minutes then the Tar just wipes away with no effort. Don't use a machine with T-Cut unless you know what you are doing. Don't even touch the car with a Rotary or DA unless you know what your doing first. You could try something like Megs Scratch X to sort scratched bits. If you really want to use a machine get a scrap panel from a breakers or something and practice on that mate before you do the car.
