Default Best combo for making BMW gleam!!

Going to buy a BMW 328i Coupe. She is a 1996. Dark green in colour. Engine wise she has been looked after to the max......full BMW service history.....but the body has not had a good wash for ages and alas the paint has gone dull.

In the past I have used Turtle Wax 'Safe Cut' as a first then followed by Autoglym Super Resin. Is this good or is there a better combo considering it will be used on a car that needs lots of love on the paint!

Check the engine block has the later or was replaced under warrenty if you didn't know! my mate got shafted with one and couldn't sell it for decient money.

Meguiars do an excellant 3 stage cleaning package if you have a weekend to spare! Always found their products to have good results, post some before and after pics!

Hmmmm,

I'd be tempeted to go for:

-Zaino Z-PC
-Poorboys Black Hole
-Poorboys EXP Sealant
-Victoria's Deep Cleanse
-Poorboys Natty's Blue if you want a glossy finish and don't mind waxing again fairly soon or Collinite 476s if you prefer a more durable wax for the winter.

Halfords will sell non of the above mate.

If that is where you plan to get your products from.
You could try the Megs 3 stage but believe stage 3 (wax) is a complete waste of time.
Autoglym SRP is a good product if used correctly but you will need to follow up with a good wax.
Not sure is Halfords sell wax or not.

I am not sure what colour it is from that pic now looks a little like boston green as well. Also looks like an individual colour for the leather inside. will find out for your you.

Looks quite tide you want to check the rear arches for rust and also check it been serviced properly. Been a 96 car it will have left the factory with a Nikasil lined bloke but the easist way to tell if it has been changed is to look on the passenger side of the block and see if it has a tab on it. this picture shows the tab which means it has been replaced

try it before you knock it!!!!! clay is most definately the best product i have used for cleaning my car!! halfords do a kit from meguiars which is worth going for, around Ł22.

i would suggest giving it a good wash, claying it and autoglym super resin. currently trying to find a wax im happy with!! Detailingworld.com is a good site for all valeting queries!!

Is the clay bar easy to use? How long would it take to clay a Fiesta for example?

Never done it myself but its not that time consuming i dont think, bit like washing a car, you could wash a car in 5mins if you wanted, or you could take 30mins and do a proper job.

I can also vouch for cleanyourcar, they have always sent my stuff undamaged within 2-3 days max, and with a little written thankyou note inside for good measure

Best advice you can get is forget halfords and get onto that website for some poorboys/chemical guys products, there not even any more expensive than halfords stuff either, just the ones on the site are better

See this for a decent routine to follow, with far better quality products and results than those initially suggested...
