Default Removing burned in spots

Hi!

I am polishing an Mongoose exhaust to get a nice shine all over. But there are a lot of burned in spots in the tailpipe. I use Belgom to polish it up, but the spots are very hard to get rid of and they stay in. Has anyone a good idea how to solve this?

Also I want to polish up the rest of the exhaust piping. Is it a good idea to sandpaper it first and then to polish it up?

Your Belgom is a very mild polish mate.
You need something more aggresive, you could try some "00" fine wire wool or Polished Bliss sell all different metal polishes http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acata...ts-engine.html

If you give them a call or email them with your pics they will tell you the best course of action.
They are normally pretty good with responding to emails and will help if they can see the problem.

You could also try one of the metal polishing kits off ebay that fit in a basic drill to machine polish it.

Here are some more pictures. I used Scotch Brite for the exhaust pipe and then polished it a bit up. It's fine for me now. Maybe not in concours state, but it will do for me.

As the downpipe came with a big dent into it, I decided to cut it out and weld a new piece in. The dent caused a restricting from the normal 76mm back to 60mm!!

Yes I know, a smaller dent retained because its position was in de curve so was harder to get nice fixed. And it wont restricted the exhaust.

Also had some lambda bosses weld in

So now I can continue with polishing!!

Thanks guys!

Today I have sandpapered the downpipe by machine and after that polished it. Again, not concours condition (like Bartjan his exhaust..) but it will do for me. And as you hardly can see the downpipe when its on the car, I think this result will be ok:

And finally I had to do the biggest part of all, the middle section. This is what it looked like before starting:

And after sandpapering, polishing, some good old Autosol and a lot (!) of elbow grease the endresult looks like this:

Only thing that remains is painting the brackets nicely black. I am very happy with this endresult, so when all the salt from the roads and bad weather are gone the full system can be put under my car. Cant wait!!
