personly i think theses leather cleaners are a jip! it's a area that people don't really know about and buy the most expensive product in faith.
before i start i'm a trimmer and have been for a number of years so...i should know what the crack is!
On any of the ford leathers/vinlys(st,rs focus,cossys)...forget hide foods! the leather wont absorb it because of the poor quality of leather, all your be doing is wipeing it around the surface leaving a slight shine that attracts the dirt...and thats what kills leather seats, dirt!
all i use on my focus rs which i've trimmed in bentley baluga black napa leather and blue alcantara is a product called G850, 1 part cleaner 10parts warm water and just clean it!
it will bring leather back to it's "factory spec"
I also use this product to wash and degrease seat before i re-colour them and the amount of shit that comes of them is unreal! the seats that have been "treated" with this and that will hold twise the amount of dirt!
Just to point out boys and girls...tanners used to use a solvent based paint to dye the leather which keeped the leather pourous..hide foods made a difference back then but like spray paints used on cars it was changed at a certain year for health and safety reasons, water base dyes leave a solid top coat...hence the product not soaking in!
Only my 2 pences worth tho!

Can you buy the dyes or is it best to go to a trimmer etc? only asking cos the colour is coming off the bolster on mine other than that the interior wud be mint. Would a normal furniture upholster be able to sort it?

Yes you can buy the dyes mate but thay only come in x amount of colours ie black, blue, red, yellow, white etc and then you mix them to suit the colour and depending on the finish of the leather you may need to add matting agent to suit, all done by a spray gun....
if your looking for "mint" mate i'd pop it down your local trimmers and see what that say...you may need pannels replacing?

I would look up LTT, they are a cracking company to deal with and have a good range of products. They worked well on my ST Fez, thumbs up from me.
Im not sure about the older Fords, but I agree with the comments that the quality of the leather isnt the best.

We use Raceglaze products on most leathers; it's true that on poorer quality modern laminated leathers the products don't soak in in the way they would on older better quality leathers, but they still clean really well and leave the finish looking very factory (and smelling like new leather too). Out of all the premium leather products we've tried, the Raceglaze comes out on top, and offers good value for money too - details here...

I'v tested a lot of products, Some products are exactly the same as others. But the latest one i'm using is a BMW one. It conditions, and brings the colour back out. Works really well.
I get it from here: www.cleanmitts.com From BMw you can only get it in the £300+Kit i buy it for £11.50 +p&p. Worth every pennie
But thats my opinion.
