Im no expert but you dont need to polish every week, the trick is, polish THEN wax, and its the wax that will last a while, normally anything from a few weeks up to a good few months depending on the wax.

Id use something like this for polish http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/polish...h/prod_44.html
This for wax http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wax/co.../prod_207.html

That Collinite wax is meant to be the best stuff you can get

exactly right, you only polish a car when needed, I do mine usually once a year, its reguarly coated with collinites wax though, cant beat collinites for durability IMO

Try a foam applicator pad on a micro fibre cloth.

I use a damp microfibre applicator pad to apply, and a clean dry microfibre cloth to buff off.

you can get various applictor pads from cleanyourcar.co.uk / elitecarcare.co.uk etc

you only need to polish once a year. ideally after the real grotty winter weather has gone. then start to build up your paint protection over the course of the year ready for winter.

maybe even less that that if you use a good wash process and protect the paint well. polishing every week, even with something that's not that harsh such as ag srp etc with eventually see you needing a respray due to wearing through the top coat or colour layer if single stage paint.

Hi Spookie,

As already stated, you dont need to polish every week. If your car is used every day and ungaraged then once every 6 months is adequate.

You don't need to spend a lot of money on a wax/sealant to gain decent results. I have a huge array of waxes/sealants which I have built up over the years. Some I have bought and some which are given to me by well known manufacturers to assist development. In fact I don't even want to think about how much I have spent on just waxes/sealants alone! I would say there are two core products I use, One costs Ł8k a jar and the other is under Ł20 a bottle. Both are extremely durable.

Your better off with going with something like Zaino. It gives an awesome finish and is very very durable. To be fair, in my opinion, pound for pound there is nothing on the market that touches it.

Here is an example of a car that's been Zaino'd.

The best thing is, you don't have to put a coat of sealant on every week as you have suggested in your post. You can just wash it and it will still look great afterwards. however if you do want to then thats fine too, as you will just add more and more protection as well as improve the overall look.

You can buy the above mentioned products from our online store www.elitedetailer.com

The key difference you will find with our store unlike any other store out there is that we only sell products that I have personally tested and tried over a lengthy period.

We also only try to sell one type of product for each type of application. For instance, you will not find a huge choice of different shampoos for you to choose from. The simple reason for this is that we only stock the best one on the market. we have carried same philosophy for our entire stock. We do not want to confuse the consumer and we would like to make sure you are more than satisfied with the results you receive with our products.

If you would like more advice as to where to begin, how to use, what products are best suited etc then I will be happy to help you. Just send me a PM.

I will also be uploading guides on this forum as to how to perform various processes on your cars.

Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to write all these up yet but I'm on it so don't worry.

Regards
