polishing advice

right, potentially buying a new car at the weekend, I think I'd describe paintwork as average, you know washed reguarly and polished every now and then.
what products should I use to blitz it and give it a good sprucing up ready to protect it from when the weather drops off? I wont be doing it every week but I will maintain the finish as best I can but the amount of products out there nowadays is crazy
its been years since I've had a car worth polishing so I'm out of touch
colour is a dark metalic green, I read good things about the poorboys stuff so I reckon I should give that a try, any advice for how many products I'll need and in what stage to use them would be great
also the best way to maintain it easily.
Thank you please.

I would clay it first after a good wash. Then polish it, followed by a glaze, topped with a sealant and finished with a wax. Gaz 7's your man on here for Poorboys stuff and advice. This is his website: www.detailedobsession.co.uk
