Intel or AMD?
I'm looking for a new pc but theres so many mixed reviews on what to go for I just can't decide
I was all set on a dell pc but then people started telling me that the Intels aren't as good as AMD's with games and the speed of them so now i've been looking at these and people tell me the AMD's aren't as reliable as the Intels
I've not go loads to spend with a max of £600 so I no I wont get a top spec but I'd like something that will last a few years with the possibility of upgrading later instead of replacing.
So does anyone have any recommendations? Or information on whats best and what to look for?
Thanks in advance,
Chris

my personal opinion based on my one amd system i built is ...
stick with intel
have built about 15 different spec systems so far .. not many i admidt but have always used intel processors with intel chiped motherboards ..its all personal choice..

it was the most unstable system i have ever used ....
every week without fail it had a problem .. this was on win 98 with all updates etc.. even took it to a pc genius
he said throw it in the bin ...
built a celeron 950 system at the same time .. thats still going strong (4 years old) even running xp pro on it now
but seriously .. its down to preference amd chips are cheaper than intel ..

I have used amd for about 7 years going from k6's thru athlons and now onto amd64, have had no problems so I say go AMD, I would never have an intel again as AMD offer more bang per buck. I have built about 10-12 systems in that time but have always used branded components. I think cheap main boards and memory give reliability problems as I have never skimped on components and believe this is what gives most problems

Thanks for all your comments
I bought a AMD Athlon64 3200 and it seems to perform well
I'm just going to up the memory and fingers crossed it will last me a few years.
