Well, I personally would return the board and the chip for direct replacements.

When I got my AMD Xp3200 chip, it failed, and took the board with it (unknown to me), so I bought another chip, and put it on the board (didn't work), so I sent the new chip back and the board.

New board arrived, but original chip on, and surprise surprise, no joy.

Sent both back, and received 2 new one's and all ok.

Whole process left my machien out of action for about 6 weeks

Stop buying motherboards off e-bay

Get them from www.ebuyer.com or www.aria.co.uk or www.redstore.com or www.scan.co.uk or www.dabs.com or any other good computer componant vendor .

I'd go with either gigabyte or an Asus one m8 I like A-bit as well, but they are mainly for the AMD chips.

In your case, get an ASUS board and you'll probably need a new chip. If you get them from a good vendor, any problems you have, you can get sorted out.

I think most boards have 3 years warranty with them. Maybe contact the seller off e-bay and see what he can do ? If he's a good seller, he'll be able to help you. No doubt, he buy's bit's in bulk, and flogs them on e-bay.

You should be able to find a board that suits thos spec's easy m8, main thing is to make it compatible with your cpu (which in turn, could also be fucked)

Might make me sound like a n00b, but why are AMD's considered better than Intel chips? An Intel P4 3.2 is 3.2gHz, yet the AMD 3200 is only 2gHz?
