try this ,

click control panel
then network connections
belkin icon
properties
configure
then ad hoc channel
value 804.11b/g
then try the scroll down bar with numbers 1- 13
try each number and then connect to see if it will do so
my connection is on 4

hope this helps

Do that on the laptop, have you set up the wireless connection ? Set both computers on the same network ?

Does your ISP assign you a static ip address then ?

Mine is setup as follows, Belkin wireless ADSL router connected to phone line, RJ45 network cable from router to PC, then i got a laptop running a Belkin Wireless card. For some reason the belkin router doesn't like automatically setting up IP Addresses or windows trying to do it, so u need to set em manually.

Ip Addresses on the router are set in blocks to allow multiple systems to connect to it, i only wanted 2 systems networked so i only set two slots, for example, 136.148.4.1 for the first system

for the second to connect 136.148.4.2

For example On your first system set the first address IP Address to 136.148.4.1, then set the subnet mask: 255.255.255.0,
then the default Gateway, which will be the address you use to access the built in software of ya router, also use this address to set the DNS Server.
