Cause i bought a mag today saw how i could check the temp at start up and after 2 hours of being on it was running at 83c
Took the comp apart and found the heatsink completly filled up with dust
I have now cleaned it up

My AMD Xp3200 usually runs around the 42 degrees mark, doesn't really change much under load and with the system on 24 / 7
You're very lucky that didn't go pop. Tony Turbo's P4 chip went pop a while back as a result of heatsink / fan failure. Burnt a hole through the chip

Mine sits nicely at:
Idle:
CPU: 32 Degrees C
Mobo: 18 Degrees C
Load:
CPU: 38 Degrees C
Mobo: 22 Degrees C
Bit of a weird cooling method, at the moment, though, until I get the new case......case-side removed, 12" deskfan directed inside the case, and regular clean-outs with a "dust-buster" compressed-air canister!

Mine's with a program that came with my motherboard, called Asus Probe......it monitors quite a few things, like CPU temperature, motherboard ambient temperature, fan speeds, voltage-stability, memory usage, hard-drive usage, and so on.
