Default Connected to BE..

... and to start off with..I was syncing at 8mb down..1mb up...but my SNR was at 5.5/6... and I dropped a few times...

I had a brain wave... a while ago..a mate ran an extension up to my loft from the master socket... I removed the faceplate..and plugged it direct in to the socket behind the face plate... my stats are a little better now

Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 1.249 / 18.000

Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [KB/KB]: 92,00 / 427,00

Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12,0 / 18,0

Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 10,0 / 20,5

SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 8,0 / 6,5

I know my SNR is low..but it's improved .5 and my download has increased by 10mb..and it's alot more stable now...

Only problem..I had to escalate a call to the London engineers as the Speedtouch 716 they provide is shit...and I can't set my firewall up on the DMZ..so all my servers are out of action at the mo

Gonna kick butt tomorrow and get it resolved asap...
But still..i'm happy with my line stats now
Just got to fit the filtered faceplate (when it arrives)

I'm off to download the entire internet now.

18Mbps downstream, nice!

Very similar line-attenuation to my line (21dB down, 7.5dB up, with 31dB up/down SNR on a 2Mbps circuit), so I'd probably end up with very similar connection-speeds through BE as you have.

And yes, they purposefully run the SNR pretty low, so as to get decent speeds (pretty sure they've released a new profile for people having problems, which uses 10dB as the SNR lower-limit, to give a more stable line at a possibly slightly lower speed).

Yup, they have got a 10db profile as well... or for people who have got Netgear GT routers...there is a patch to manually specify your own target SNR... so you can play about and find the optimum settings for your line...

I know I'll probably be moaning in a couple of days about my net being down... but it's a pilot... i'm expecting it...and since sorting out my faceplate...I really can't fault the service...

If they can't sort out my issue with the speedtouch being able to set up a DMZ..I'll just go out and get the Belkin ADSL2+ router..as that has some favourable reviews on early ADSL2+ tests...

I've got a NetGear DG834G v2 (the ADSL2+ compliant version) wouldn't mind trying it out on a 24Mbps-enabled line, to be honest, just to see how it copes...

What version firmware are you running ? I can't remember if it was the G or the GT version..but I think they said the G version works better with 2.10.10 firmware (or later)
