Tell whoever is sending the images to either send seperate emails with a couple of pics attached or reduce the image file size before sending.

I use outlook and in the past when experiencing the same problem, i used to have to keep clicking 'stop' and then delete the selected mail before the system tried to auto recieve again. Im sure in the settings you can adjust the 'retry' time. Have you tried viewing the emails via your broadband hosts web page?

1.log in using the appropriate webmail server (if activated) and then you can view or delete

or

2.In outlook and thunderbird you can also switch to receive headers only, this will allow you to see who the message is from and delete the problem message.

Just use googlemail, its so simple to use,has never failed me in two years, you can send as many pictures as you like and it's free.
Gave up on outlook express as it was constantly having issues,I'm amazed people still bother with it,also got googlemail on my phone, even my 70 year old mother can use that!!!
You won't look back mate, takes 10 mins to set an account up,pictures arrive instantly as well, the mrs emailed some pics the other night while I was talking to her on the phone and they were there 30seconds later.

I think it may be the way the person is sending them. In outlook if you 'attach' a photo, it will just add the file witht he option to open/download, if you 'insert' a photo, it adds it into the actual email content itself (shows the actaul photo in the email text). As previously state, you could set outlook to download headers only, and them you will have to manually tell it to download the attachments.
