hello all i live in cumbria and looking for the best data network as in the fastest internet, iv got a top of the range HTC HD Disire and love the phone and im with Vodafone but find my speeds on 3g are absolutly shit!! my mate has new iphone 4s and hes on orange and says they have the fastest data network? if we both start Facebook at the sdame time his loads maybe 3 times faster plus he can stream video? whats the crack guys

My vodaphone 3G is very good in Carlisle, not sure about others though......

 

Orange here is shocking. Struggle to get a phone signal.

And I only live 2 miles from their HQ

I thought it was pretty common knowledge that 3 have the biggest 3G coverage over the uk?
The misses used to be on Orange and could never even get 3G where we live where as my phone(the same phones i might add) had full 3G, go figure internet is blazing fast aswell, usually get speeds as fast as my home broadband internet, i think thats fast enough on a phone
If you go to 3's site they have a coverage checker, or even better, get a pay as you go sim or a rolling one month contract sim to put into your phone and see how it fairs? probably the best option as the online coverage checkers are abit optimistic i think.


Forgot to add, i take it your Desire is unlocked? as it will have to be

 

I have had it where it says full 3G signal and pages are taking so long to load it times out.

well the iphone 4s is a much faster phone than the HTC HD and it has IO5, so your matching a phone, which is not as fast as the iphone 4, which is quite slow, but I would say the HTC should be about the same for web browsing as the iphone 4.

 

Johnny iv looked into this and its also to do with what browser you use, iv changed to firefox and its alot better, facebook will now load but thats cus iv also stooped using the facebook appz as its really slow at loading! dont use the appz!! ive also done tests and the problem i see with vodaphone for me is that the signal flutuates to much sometimes in my house i get over 1meg and its good while on H,,, but then 5 mins later im on G,, and silly slow speeds just done a check now and its on H.. and got 569 download and a silly fast upload of 645 so thats not to bad but yesterday in the same place i got 1278 download so 1.2 meg is broadband speed but it cant sustain it for the whole 3g thing is utter bolloks and just is not good enuff!!
as for the HTC HD i still think its overall better then any Iphone but i just wanted the Iphone 4s for fast internet speeds
