Default Sony Vaio cursor problem

Can anyone help. It is my Dads Laptop. Sometimes when he first opens the laptop the cursor moves in the opposite direction to your finger on the pad! You sometime have to close and reopen it 3 or 4 times to get it to go normal! Any ideas chaps? Cheers.

I had a quick look around for this... Looks like alot of people have had the same issue, Sony take you through reinstallation of drivers etc and even a full wipe of the system, however 9 times out of 10 it doesn't solve the problem.

They sent 1 off for a dismantle and cleaning and apparently that sorted the problem. Could be dust getting trapped in it.
