Default 100% cpu usage

my laptop has started running at 100% cpu usage over the past few days,
it never used to.
i dont have any photo's stored on the laptop and have minimal programmes on there either as its only used for web based stuff.

i havent installed any new programmes lately or removed any.

what would cause it to start running at 100%

Press ctrl alt del or right click on your start bar> task manager > processes.

trhere is a column for CPU usage

If anything other than 'system idle' is at 95-100% write the name of the process down and post it here

Thats your internet browser mate.

Is this a laptop or a desktop?

If its a laptop and you normally hibernate it then try a proper restart.

Click start, then run and type in msconfig, select the tab that says selective startup, it will show you a list of items loaded when the machine is in Windows. untick anything that you don't need running, things like Adobe and office etc.
