Default website design-any experts?

Hi, would like to design a website, is it easy to do yourself or is there anyone that could do it for me?

Have an idea that i'd like to look at getting on the web.

Thanks in advance.

it is easy enough to do yourself if you have a bit of technical knowledge and the correct tools (I have built more websites than i can remember), however in the long term it is usually more beneficial if you get a pro to build your website, although without any details of what you are doing i couldnt give you an idea of what you could expect to pay

4 key elements to a decent website IMHO

1 - content
2 - visual design
3 - functionality
4 - SEO

Thats not in any order.

You will probalby find you are better at some bits than others, content for example you should be ok for if you know your subject well (ie if its your own company or something then you should know what to say to promote it)

Personally I such at the visual design bit, but am very talented at the functionality and am reasonable at the SEO bit.

Its the functionality stuff I do for a living though, so thats hardly surprisingly my best area.

Thats a nice website mate, looking for something like this. Once you have a good base like this can you keep on adding new sections?

Did mine myself 10 years ago. Frames set up in Dreamweaver & now edited in Microsoft Frontpage. Hosted it with geocities & i sent it to the search engines myself after setting up the meta tags.
Over 100k hits now but i rarely change it these days.

I bought my domain name from 123reg.co.uk and then hosted it via flump.net I worte mine all in HTML and robbed some funky javascripts from other sites just to piss around with. Depends what you want really on your site. I googled a beginners guide to html and went from there, you could do the same or a beginners guide to building a website. I'm sure there's thousands of tutorials on the net to help.
