if you get sound and video, but on different channels, then your xbox is working fine, but you've either cabled up the TV wrong or the setup on the TV needs changing

By the sound of it you've connected the component (red, blue, green) cables for video, and analogue stereo RCA (red and white) for audio, and the fact you are getting video but no sound, then on a different "channel" you get sound but no picture means you HAVE connected the audio to the wrong input.

if you can tell me the make model of your TV I can probably find a manual online and show you which inputs you need to use. Either that or sometimes, on some TV's, audio inputs can be assigned to different video inputs.

Post the make and model and we'll get to the bottom of it......

This is from the Phillips website (I can't access the PDF manual I found cos of shitty works computer)

- Connect the X-box 360 with the X-box- HD component cable to EXT 3 of the TV Red Green and Blue cinch connections (the yellow cinch connector is not connected).

- Connect the audio separately, with the red and white cinch connectors for audio on the HD cable to the analogue audio input which is a mini-jack connection for EXT3 of the TV or the optical out from the Xbox (via a converter) to the digital coaxial input of the TV.

- You may need to re-assign the audio on the TV to the correct connection :
Select TV MENU and press cursor right. The TV menu appears on screen.

Select INSTALLATION and press cursor right. The installation menu is moved to the left.

Select CONNECTIONS and press cursor right. The connections menu is moved to the left.

Select L/R and press cursor right. Select NONE

Select DIGITAL AUDIO IN and press cursor right. Select EXT 3.

Press MENU/BROWSER to exit the menu.

Jim I don't think thats a problem as the xbox IS outputting it's audio over stereo RCA. The problem is the OP can't get the TV to filter to audio and video to the same input....
