Depending on what router yours is, you'll probably have to type in 192.168.1.1 into your address bar, which should take you to the router settings page. You'll probably have to log in : most Netgear routers have a username of "admin" and password of "pass" as standard (sometimes it's "user")

After that it's very easy to navigate around and change things - but if you don't know what you are changing, don't change it!!!!

If you dont have houses right next to your house then you will be out of range.
Unless someone is sat in the bush outside your front door with their laptop i wouldnt worry

Try either 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 in your web browser

username : admin
password : user

or if that don't work, change the password to "pass" (remove the " obviously)

So many things can vary what signals you can and can't get. He might a particulary low signal, there might be interference, there might be obstacles blocking the signal to you, so many things. Latency, all sorts......

I can pick up a lot more on my laptop than I can my iPhone, which is to do with my reciever in both. The better the reciever, the better the chances of getting a signal.
