Default wireless speed loss

having a problem with my laptop, been checking the speed of connection using speedtest.net and its comin back with 700kbps ish download, if I change the channel number for the router i goes back to 10meg, but 10mins later it goes rubbish again, its fine if I put the ethernet cable into the laptop, I've also virus scan'd it

Any ideas?

only noticed it due to having hell streaming a football match earlier

Wireless isn't as fast as ethernet. It'll depend on how fast your wireless card is, and what speed is supported on the router. You could change the channel the router used.

You could download a firmware update for the router, or reset the security and change the wep encryption key to something a lot harder just in case someone's cracked your wep key. Put some symbols in the key to help.
