Christ knows what you have done here Are you saying that you split your current hard drive partition into 2, leaving one operating system on it, and installed a second operating on the new partition, and now your trying to access the original partition with all documents on it ?

If so what operating systems are you using ?

did you format using the same file system NTFS or FAT etc - sounds like it could be a permissions issue

need more details

sorted the permissions issue out but everytime i double click folders now in anything other than :C drive it opens a search window instead. You can right click then 'open' but this starts to get annoying after a while. Any way round that?

Also now i have internet problems. It did it before formatting, so although I wanted to format anyway it was an excuse to do it sooner. I thought I'd buggered some obscure setting up, and when I formatted the internet connection is fine. But as of just the problems come back again. I've not fiddled any settings, but the internet logo in the corner says no connection (but aol logo says there is - so theres internet) but the connection only lasts for a few minutes sometimes and takes a very longtime to recconect again. And then once connected (knowing with the aol logo saying connection) the windows says theres nothing.
The annoying thing is this usb dongle (a 3com one) was used in my dad's pc for over 2 years with no problems, and then I pinched it cos it was better than a dodgey wireless card I bought. So its worked fine ford ages and now its as if there are compatibility problems
Can anyone help?

Yeah, i'd learn from this mistake and format the entire drive and start again

To fix Ao hell you'll probably need to uninstall it and reinstall it, then reconfigure the wireless settings.

You've provided no explanation as to what you was trying to do, nor what operating system so all I can concur from what you have done is you had C: and thought "i know, i'll split that and have some room" rather then buy a 2nd hard drive and install it.

the connection problem is windows/dongle not aol. The routers ok too as I'm posting off the other PC. And yeah, your right, I wacked a partition on the end cos Im too tight to buy a harddrive

well the internet side of things. Im guessing that disk think where it tryes to search everything is some simple setting somewhere as it happens when I put my memory card into the computer aswell as data CD's. Its just finding it...
