wot he said
yours cannot play ps1/ps2 games- its missing that chip to cut costs.
It is missing two usb ports and the flap which contains memory card slots for you phone/camera etc.
the 80gb is the same spec as the original 60gb one but with 20gb extra

Wrong..

"
NEW 80GB Model! Now comes with the Sony Dualshock 3 Controller.

PS3 is the most advanced computer system that serves as a platform to enjoy next generation computer entertainment contents in the home, realized through the combination of Cell and RSX processors.
Having Giga-bit Ethernet and a pre-installed hard disk drive (HDD) as standard in PS3, users will be able to download a variety of contents as well as access on-line games and services over the network.
Equipped with basic input/output ports, PS3 supports a broad range of displays from conventional NTSC/PAL standard TVs to the latest full HD (1080i/1080p) flat panel displays, offering the joy of the most advanced computer entertainment contents to homes around the world. For use in living rooms, maximum heat and noise reduction has been achieved with a noise level equivalent to that of the current slim-line PlayStation 2.
With the overwhelming computational power of the Cell processor, PS3 is capable of playing back content from Blu-ray (BD) disc at a bit rate of multiplex 48Mbps with ease, the maximum bit rate defined in BD standards. The new controller for PS3 has been created by refining and improving the world's most popular PlayStation controller which has shipped more than several hundred million units worldwide. The controller for PS3 employs a high-precision, highly sensitive six-axis sensing system that is capable of processing all parameters within the controller itself, thereby eliminating the need for any additional settings on the display system. By applying this technology, it will become possible to freely control the PS3 system over the network.
PLEASE NOTE - This PlayStation 3 model does NOT feature backwards compatibility with PS2 games, or the memory stick card readers found on the old 60GB Model."

To be completely honest, there's no need to play the PS1 and 2 games, cos they suck ass....i downloaded some of my old favourites from the PS3 store, but they were sooo bad i deleted them straight away!

HD gaming rocks, there's no need for old blocky slow graphics anymore!

5400 m8, 7200's are hit and miss due to the heat of them. As yet I don't think you can get any form of HD cooler in the ps3, only possible option would be to leave the cover off and have a fan blowing on it

Cheers mate. I'd heard mixed opinions on the 7200's so I wasn't sure. Did the swap go okay then? Easy enough? I was going to stick all my save game data on to my memory stick, is that what you done?

Yeah, i copied all my save data to a usb drive. Switched off via the controller, flicked the switch on the back and then unplugged it. Took the drive out, slapped the new one in, installed the playstation OS then copied the data back
