Default Mail Server

Is there a software package that will download mails from several different accounts so that I can keep them on my main PC and still view them using Outlook on other PC's on my home network.

I currently download mails on Outlook to my desktop PC but I want to access those mails from a laptop as well. What I'm looking for is something like Microsoft Exchange but that's fairly easy to set up and maintain.
Outlook Express used to have an option that allowed you to keep mails on the server but it's not there anymore.

Thanks,
Shanny

all you need to do is set up any email client as IMAP and the mail will stay on the server allowing you to view the mail from a number of locations or clients.

POP3 will download the mail to the email client no matter what it is, OUTLOOK, Thunderbird, Evolution

if you want to run an exchange style server you can use the open source openXchange

http://www.open-xchange.com/

obviously this needs to run on a server and not on a client machine
