you can get an oem q6600 for £150 saves £20!
though you herd about intel releasing the new range to rival the quads? although i'm starting to think they'll be released the same time as the nvidia 9 series

have to be care with asus bourds as i've herd they just dont work with some brands or ram.
DDR3 boards are out now
any taking your fancy at the mo?

I'm on sure about graphics cards, gts seems to be comming down in price alot now!

only issues asus have is they are too picky on the ram .. bloody annoying i know but never had any issues with mine...
and at what price will these new processors appear ... but it will be £200 +
ddr3 ram is still quite high in price though 2 gig is still £200 + is it worth it ????

looking at these at the moment

yeah though i've heard it is solvable by changing the voltages on the ram in bios. but its still a headache!

your probably right on the cpu price front, though in theory it should bring down the quad prices but as i said i doubt these cpu';s will be realistacally out till at least next year, as they've been put back twice now!

i think ddr3 is only worth it if your thinking of major clocking, as they run at something like 1066mhz now! but i already have ram i'm gunna use for my build which is ddr2 so i'll stick with that.

some nice boards there, tho there so many to pick from its hard to find which is best! i was looking at the x38 though at over £150 i dont think i'll be going for that! lol shame cos it looks like such a nice board runs dual pci-e x16!

i'm also lookin at tv's, as i'm trying to figure out how i would run 3 screens thats if i find a good spec tv thats worth it lol.

Faster than a 8800GTS

EDIT what i mean is, faster than the old 8800GTS's, the newer 512MB GTS would be faster than a 8800GT

was thinking that too, makes you wonder though, whens the rest gunna follow suit and whats comming round the corner??

i noticed you can pick up an nvidia owned brand gtx card now for £233 thata a massive drop in the past month, as you'd be looking at, at least 300 for one!

233 for a GTX is great yeah, but the newer GT 512mb's and the GTS 512mb offers better bang for buck.

As for wondering whats round the corner, the pc upgrade scene has always been like that, i.e you buy a top of the line part and within a few months something better comes out, you just have to deal with it

thats true, but it just shows prices are comming down alot recently, though i dont think i couldnt bring myself to spend more then 200 on a graphics card!

with everyone umming and ahhhing over these new cpu's that are due out although they were supposed to be released at the start of this year but now there saying they wont be out till at least march! lol

the same with the 9000 series supposed to be out now but said to have been put back till the end of the year!

although this new x2 card from ati looks pretty impressive on paper, although i've herd they still dont perform as well as the gtx's unless your running crossfire.

you think too much mate

End of the day unless your running a screen over 22" a 8800GT 512mb/or GTS will be fantastic.

I havent had a read about the new ATi offerings though, but after owning 1 ATi card i wont be owning another

ati's latest card,

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/140437

supposed to be very good in crossfire form, as apparently crossfires way more stable then sli.

i'm going to be running a 3rd screen which will be at leat or over 24" but first i need to figure out how i'm going to run it

this looks interesting

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/132283

tho nvidia has reviewed a quad card also but i'm not sure when thats out

well the problem i'm facing at the moment, is that although nvidia's cards have come out better in benchmark testings the boards that support sli are, well crap! most if not all the reviews i've read on them have rated them poorly.

not to mention crossfire is featured on pretty much all the top boards!
the 3870 cards are supposed to be a good card, lower price then the nvidia at £140 and i've seen that it can be run in crossfire with the cheaper 3850 which goes for about £100.

so although i was set to get an nvidia card from looking at the single card bench markings (which was at the most about 15% better) the crossfire option is starting to sway me!!

by the way the 3870x2 i linked earlier is the quickest card on the market, nvidia havent released a rival to it yet.

well apparently, i just found out that sli/crossfire doesnt support more then 2 monitors at the moment and the only way to do it is to buy a modular thing that cost near £200

back to square one lol
