there must be some chap on this forum who knows what to do with the settings on my computer
i've got a new computer with vista
the display settings only go up as far as 1280 x 800 and yet the moniter i've got is a 22" and needs to be run at 1680 x 1050
the question therefore is, how the fuck do i change the settings
i've been buggering about for the past hour trying to sort it but nothing i do lets me adjust the settings any further

ok then, how do i find the drivers?
i got a disc with the moniter but i dind't need them on the other computer, it just worked straight away
where do i get the drivers from then?
also, if i choose screen 2 then the size starts much higher so it'll go much nigher, but that's on a normal 4:3 moniter set up and mines is widescreen

Did the monitor come with the P.C?
Drivers should have already been loaded,
If not then, the drivers you need are for the Graphics card, if they are "on board (motherboard)" graphics you need drivers from the motherboard website, if it's plug in graphics card go to the Graphics card site.
You may have to open up the P.C to find the details.

the graphics card (from what i can see listed in the list of stuff) is a generic non pnp moniter on nvidia geforce 8400 gs, whatever that means
the moniter is an emprex, whoever they are

Ok download and install these http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_163.75.html
Once they have installed you will have to restart the pc, do that and when its loaded back into windows right click on the desktop and go to "personalize" at the bottom and then go to the display settings and 1680 x 1050 should now be on the list

i can update stuff that has been set up on the coputer already like office and messenger, but trying to actually download anything just ends up with a screen that asks if i want to run it or save it and then it's over and done with
i'm admin on the computer so i should be able to change everything, but it just won't let me
the mrs doesn't know what to do either as she's not used to vista and my brother was home at the weekend but he's fooked off to brum now and won't be back or else he would have solved it
Vista really is a top operating system
Slap the monitor cd in the drive, right click on my computer and then go to properties and then get into device manager, click on the plus next to monitors, then double click on the pnp one and update drivers, hopefully it should do it off the cd rom drive and all should be fine

it's a total load of bollocks because it just tells you how to change the screen resolution, but it can't go bigger than 1600 x 1200 and i need to find one that is 1680 x 1050

hehe, you have to download the latest drivers from nvidia, if you cant do that, go to a friend and get him to download it
and why 1680 x 1050 ? what is the model name of the screen?
