Motherboard Name MSI MS-6575E
Right so that's the name of the motherboard, now how much memory can it take? I've got 1279MB installed at the minute

fook me not an easy one to find .. google it and there is loads in chinese and french .. but little in english .. even msi don't list it on their site
presume its a Compaq presario
from what i have found... its a 478 chip mobo
Memory Type DDR
Memory Speed PC 2700
Memory Sockets 2 DDR-DIMM
Maximum Memory 1 GB DDR 333/DDR 266
so 1 gig is your limit .. time to get another mobo and upgrade.... or even a new pc...
i love a challenge but that was hard work

You were going to fit it yourself i take it? in which case its just as easy to take off the side panel and look, instantly you can see what you have and how many slots you have free.
If eagle found the right mobo then it will only have one or two slots so your screwed

I found this site, www.crucial.com which does an on-line scan of the motherboard, it says it can take up to 2048MB....

It is a Compaq yeah
I've just had a proper little shuffle about...
There's a 1gb card in the Compaq at the mo and a 256, just taken the 256 out and fitted it to my laptop (which can only run 512 max, oh well ) and my mate is digging me out another 1gb of mem for my main PC.
That leaves me 2x 512 cards for my PC rigged up to my decks which should be plenty as I only record music on it
Complicated ain't the word, but at least I got to use it all up in various places
