Hi there,
well then i had a virus as soon as i got broadband (blueyonder 128 - the cheap one
)
i did a full reformat and re installed windows xp pro. i have done the updates inc sevice pack 1 just doing service pack 2 now.
i ve got norton antivirus 2004 pro, which has a firewall in it? since re installing everthing it takes ages to transfer pictures though msn.
any ideas?
also after being on the net for around 3 hrs with only internet exp running the whole thing will lock up no ctr alt del or mose moving - nothing. doesn't happen very often. about 4 times since june.
ta for any pointers
rob.

Because norton will check everything coming through for virus. I mean everything. Just look at a typical webpage, photos everywhere. Norton checks every singleone of those, hence why it clutters up your pc.

If your installing Windows XP Service Pack two, that's got a firewall in it, so just ditch everything, use that, and get a standard piece of AV software.
Failing that, upgrade your computer

Just live with it m8, not worth ditching a firewall because of a slow msn transfer, and it may also be the person you are sending it to. Windws XP firewall on it's own's not gonna protect you too much

think your right...
the only thing is the freezing thats a pain now.
i've noticed if i'm actually using the pc ie: the mouse is moving or i'm typing it won't lock up. if i leave it untouched for more than 10 mins it jams up. no ctrl alt del. caps lock won't turn on or off and i have to reset.
any ideas?
cheers
