HP Jetdirect print server setup
Before I start, I know my printer is old, but it prints beautifully and I like it. I've had my HP Laserjet 4+ for 11 years and it's never missed a beat.
I now have a wireless router providing a network for one wired PC and wirelessly for 2 PCs and a Mac and I'd like for these other computers to be able to print.
I.ve splashed out and bought a Jetdirect 2552-60003 print server card from Ebay for a whacking 99p, but it came with no instructions or discs and the help on the HP website may as well be written in Chinese.
How do I get the printer card recognised on the network so that all four computers can print?

if you press the button on the back (if it has one) it should print out a config page where you can find out what ip it's set to. If not, the standard ip addresses of them are 192.0.0.192 so you'll need to put a pc on the same address range segment as it to be able to communicate with it so you can reconfigure it... 192.0.0.193 for instance. then type in internet explorer http://192.0.0.192 to access the web config of the JD card
failing that, download HP Web Jetadmin software from HPs website (free download) and that will detect and set it up for you (just a bit of a pig to install)
If it's set to get an address from DHCP check the status page of your router, it may be showing up in there as occupying an address lease. if so, browse to it in IE same as you would on one of the earlier approaches (http://x.x.x.x)
Brilliant printer by the way, they will out live us all
Laserjet 4000/4050's are the same. Pity the same cant be said about some of the current models

Thanks for your help, though I'm not techy enough to understand it. Should have said that when it comes to computers I need someone to tell me where the boxes are and what to put in them - anything like "address range segment" goes so far over my head you would barely believe it!
I've downloaded and installed the Jetadmin from the web and have no idea what to do in it - doesn't seem to want to save anything I try to change like the subnet mask (not even sure if I should be trying to put that in Configuration but its there and I can copy the number from the Router settings screen!)
The Router shows it as occupying 192.168.2.3 but if I type that into the browser I get "page can't be displayed" or similar, and when I'm in Jetadmin it will print the test page OK but asking it to upload and print gave me garbage.
It doesn't appear anywhere else as an available printer and my head hurts so I'm going to forget it for tonight!
