hi tried to use laptop wireless and when went to install it asks me to turn on hardware switch how do u do this

 

What router or access point are you using ?

Oooh, i was talking about this in the pub the other day. If you want to open certain ports on it, you will need to ring BT to do it.

But, AFAIk connecting it wirelessly should be the same as with any other router, open http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or whichever the manual tell's you to open, then setup the wireless network, and it should be as simple as that really

 

it could be asking for you to enable the wifi hardware switch on the laptop as some can be switched on and off... what laptop is it

 

You do not need to call BT to open ports as these are within your control on the router.
When configuring the router it should be done hard wired via the Ethernet connections... routers which allow remote or wireless access configuration have security issues which need to be taken into consideration
