Default graphics card question

currently i have a radeon x700 agp card

would a radeon x1600 pro be noticabley better ?

only game i really play on the pc is black and white 2 as ive got a 360 for normal use

also my pc has got 1gb of mem in it

is that all you need or again would there be a noticable difference if i upped it to 2 gig ?

Matt

I've not used ATI cards for many many years, but having a quick look, the X1600 Pro does look like it's got a higher spec than the X700 series......not by a huge amount, but it should be noticeable, I would guess.

Upgrading from 1GB to 2GB, I would say, may make a bit of a difference, aswell......but, then again, it depends on the game. The likes of Battlefield 2 and Everquest 2, I noticed a MASSIVE difference when I upgraded from 1GB to 2GB.

It does depend on what games you want to play on the pc really m8.

Some people say you can't beat the graphics on an X-box 360, but with a good spec pc. I beg to differ

When you say can it be got from anywhere, if i think its what im thinking then no i dout it, you will have to buy it, but then im not sure how your card would fair, i know it definatly wont run on highest settings, maybe medium/low.
A safer bet would be doom3 or quake 4, there not so system hungry as it were.
And if your old card was ATI then i dont think you need to uninstall any drivers, just check on ATI's website that your currant drivers also support the x1300.
Certainly the catalyst can stay, thats the same whatever make of ATI card you have

I'd uninstall it just to be safe, then install the new card with the drivers cd that comes with it
