AMD Heatsink removal. How ???
I've received my new near silent heatsink and fan. Have removed the old heatsink and fan, was a bit stiff so gave it a gentle tug and the CPU is still attached to it !
How do I remove it from the existing heatsink (was th original that came with the CPU)
Its an Athlon64 XP 3000+ if thats any help ?
It seems to be stuck solid

It'll be the thermal-compound between the two that's bonded them together...
Whatever you do, be VERY VERY careful not to bend any of the pins on the CPU. Try heating the compound up (a hairdryer, maybe?), which may make it a bit softer and easier to separate the two?

thank god for Google !
Apparently its common for them to stick together. A good twist making sure you dont touch the pins and hey presto its off.
DONT prise it off thou coz you'll end up snapping the CPU !
Hope it helps someone else !
